Argued counting game

Learning goals : Concept of number (of), additive break up, language (hyperonyms)

The file to download contains 36 cards ready to be printed (9 per 9) in the .doc format, this same cards with the .jpg format, my image pallet (and an empty grid) for users who wants to create other cards.

Material : A usual play die with numbers from 1 to 6.

Goal : To be the first to have gotten rid of every cards.

Course of the play :  

Give an equal number of cards to each player.

A player (or a referee) drops the die. Players have to propose as quick as possible a card containing this number, but they have to justify while saying what they have counted. Only the fastest player (with a correct justification) get rid his card. According to the justification, a same card can be used for different numbers.

Rule :  A answer can never be accepted without admissible justification. Every ways to indicate what was counted can be accepted  ; only words like "things" or "drawings" are forbidden.

Usefull exemples  :

Can be appropriate for :  1 (ant) ; 2 (bees) ; 3 (butterflies) ; 5 (insects which fly) ; 6 (insects, animals)

 

Can be appropriate for :  1 (man) ; 2 (little boys) ; 3 (little girls) ; 5 (children) ; 6 (people)

 

Can be appropriate for :  1 (sandwich) ; 2 (carrots) ; 3 (radishes) ; 5 (vegetables) ; 6 (food)

 

Can be appropriate for :  1 (ant, insect) ; 2 (ducks or radishes or carrots) ; 3 (animals) ; 4 (vegetables) ; 6 (food)
